This article discusses the importance of not allowing the standard of care for MOUD to become lower due to COVID-19’s effects in prisons and jails. Some possible ways to continue with treatment were identified, including shorter OUD screening, medications being delivered to individuals’ cells or in a staggered way, and telemedicine where possible.
Bottom Line: The COVID-19 pandemic had the potential to decrease the level of care for MOUD treatment and this article outlines multiple ways to ensure treatment standards.
